Upcoming Closures!
The Newton Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30.
It takes an army of dedicated volunteers to keep the Newton Food Pantry running, and we could not be more grateful to them. The new Client & Volunteer Engagement Manager position will serve as the primary point of contact for all existing and new volunteers and clients. Aimee will manage and recruit volunteers, and help facilitate pantry access for all clients. She will also be a pivotal representative of the Newton Food Pantry in the community.
Aimee has always been inspired by volunteer-driven agencies whose missions are to help others. After college, she joined AmeriCorps VISTA, where she was placed at a public library and given the responsibility of setting up free libraries at affordable housing complexes and in domestic violence shelters. After graduate school, she spent 19 years working in public libraries helping to bridge education gaps. She has now decided to focus her efforts on addressing food insecurity, and we are happy to be part of that journey with her.
One of her goals for the Newton Food Pantry is to ensure that every Newton school principal and social worker knows exactly what the Newton Food Pantry has to offer. She is certain they would be surprised by the amazing quality and extent of the choices available every week.
When Aimee is not chasing her daughters around the state watching and coaching their soccer games, you can find her in the kitchen baking. Aimee has worked in many different libraries, so her knowledge of books is extensive. Her favorite book is History of Love by Nicole Krauss. Every couple of years she rereads 1984 — which serves as a reminder that sci-fi can become reality and Yellow Wallpaper — which reminds her how far women and mental health have come.
We are excited for Aimee to share her skills and passion, and enable the Newton Food Pantry to do even more for our community!
