Is your child looking for a way to give back to our community? Are you a teen looking to dive into community volunteering? We have some exciting initiatives and programs tailor-made for you!
Teen Ambassador Program (TAP)
This year-long program offers middle and high school students the opportunity for personal growth while serving the greater good in the Newton community.
Students are given an “insider” experience at the Newton Food Pantry, where they will learn how a successful nonprofit organization runs and gain a better understanding of the impact the Newton Food Pantry has in the community. Applications for the 2026–27 school year are now open! You can apply online; the deadline is Friday, June 19, 2026.
Make and Decorate Kids’ Bags
Kids’ Bags are distributed to families with children under the age of 17 each time they shop at the Newton Food Pantry. The decorated bags are filled with a variety of child-friendly foods and drinks that kids can enjoy for breakfast, lunch or as snacks. Learn more about how you can help.

Make Cards for Clients
Looking for a fun, creative activity to do that will put a smile on the face of your Newton neighbors? Please consider making colorful and thoughtful homemade cards to be put inside our clients’ grocery bags.
Join Our Walk for Hunger Team
The Walk for Hunger is a 3-mile group walk around the Boston Common on the first Sunday each May. It is the oldest continual pledge walk in the United States and the largest annual one-day fundraiser to help alleviate hunger in Massachusetts.
The money raised by Walk participants provide funds to hundreds of community-based hunger-relief programs in the state, including the Newton Food Pantry!
The Walk for Hunger is always a great event for adults, families and teens. This year’s walk is on Sunday morning, May 3, and there’s still time to join the Newton Food Pantry’s team. Register today!
