Upcoming Closures!
The Newton Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30.
April in Newton means spring is coming and it’s time for the Boston Marathon. Each year, a Newton Food Pantry supporter gets to run this historic marathon while also raising money to help alleviate food insecurity in Newton. In 2026, our Newton Food Pantry runner is Colleen Nolan, our part-time bookkeeper and longtime volunteer/former board member!
Colleen turned 50 years old this year, and she’s celebrating by running 26.2 miles and raising critical funds for the Newton Food Pantry. Colleen is crushing her training, but she could still use your help to reach her fundraising goals. Give today and wish Colleen a happy belated bday!
In 1969, Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger was founded on the promise of providing relief to our neighbors in Massachusetts struggling with food insecurity. That promise remains today.
The Walk for Hunger, a 3-mile group walk around Boston Common, is the oldest continual pledge walk in the United States and the largest annual one-day fundraiser to help alleviate hunger in Massachusetts. This year’s event will be held on Sunday morning, May 3.
Join the Newton Food Pantry’s team and help raise the funds and awareness necessary to fight hunger here in Newton. Sign up today!
Every fall for the past 14 years, Three Squares New England has organized a community bike ride to raise funds for participating hunger-relief partners.
The Newton Food Pantry once again organized a team for the annual Ride for Food — participants biked 25 miles, 50 miles, or 62 miles, or completed a 5K walk — which was held on October 5, 2025. All funds raised by our team this year (nearly $40,000!) has helped the Newton Food Pantry purchase the fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy and other healthy foods our clients need and deserve.

Our biggest and best fundraising event of the year, held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, was a tremendous success! Nearly 200 people joined us for an evening of community and care for those in Newton struggling with food insecurity. More than $150,000 was raised, and all proceeds supported the Newton Food Pantry’s critical hunger-relief services.
Our 2025 honorees included the City of Newton/Mayor Ruthanne Fuller (Community Partner Award), the law firm Goulston & Storrs (Corporate Partner Award), and longtime volunteer Marilyn Crone (Volunteer of the Year Award). Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful evening to remember!
The Newton Turkey Trot is an independent nonprofit organization that hosts a USATF certified 5K run and 1-mile fun run each November to benefit the Newton Food Pantry, among other area organizations. The goal of this event is to raise awareness about the importance of health and wellness, as well as community service.
The Newton Food Pantry assists the Newton Turkey Trot race organizers through publicizing the event, by encouraging participation, and by staffing volunteer slots leading up to and on race day. You too can get involved! Look for registration information in early fall.
For more information about any of these events, including how you can help support the Newton Food Pantry, please contact Executive Director Jeff Lemberg at jeff@newtonfoodpantry.org. Thank you!
