The Ride for Food will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024 and there are still spots available to join Team Newton Food Pantry. Every dollar raised by team members will directly support the Pantry’s critical work of fighting food insecurity in Newton.

As a member of the Newton Food Pantry team, participants have the option to cycle a 25-, 50-, or 62-mile bike route, complete a 5k walk, or design their own “Off the Beaten Path” fundraising activity. For the Off the Beaten Path option, participants may complete an activity of their choice anytime between now and November 30, 2024. This may include hiking, kayaking, cycling or any other exercise option. Over the last 12 years, the Ride for Food has raised nearly $4.2 million for local hunger relief organizations.

Doug Herrick, a longtime dedicated volunteer at the Newton Food Pantry, is again captaining the Newton Food Pantry cycling team. This will be Doug’s third time as captain and 7th ride. An avid cyclist committed to addressing food insecurity, Doug bikes no fewer than 100 miles each week during the fall and summer. We are thrilled and grateful to have Doug at our team helm again this year!

The walking and cycling events depart from and return to the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham. Learn more about the individual routes on Three Square’s website. The bike rides are fully supported, scenic routes.. Each event concludes with a festive celebration at the finish line. Please consider supporting the Newton Food Pantry’s Ride for Food team.
