Reducing food insecurity improves health outcomes. As a result, for all of us at the Newton Food Pantry, National Nutrition Month is particularly meaningful as it reinforces our commitment to increasing food access and providing the healthiest foods possible for our clients.

In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the Newton Food Pantry will be providing three special opportunities for our clients:

  • Free consultations with a Newton-Wellesley Hospital dietician to discuss diets and meal planning tailored to specific health needs. Those who participate will receive a $25 grocery card.
  • Free blood pressure checks by a Newton-Wellesley Hospital medical assistant on site for those clients who are interested. They will also provide a list of area primary care physicians in the Newton-Wellesley Hospital system for those clients who do not have a PCP.
  • A series of recipe cards (see below), available in different languages, utilizing heart-healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free items that are available at our pantry.

While our number one priority at the Newton Food Pantry is to provide nutritious food for those struggling with food insecurity, we are also committed to supporting full and healthy lives for our clients.
