Upcoming Closures!
The Newton Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30.
For more than 40 years, the Newton Food Pantry has provided supplemental food assistance to Newton. Today, more than 4,000 Newton residents live at or below the federal poverty level and they routinely struggle to manage high housing expenses and rising grocery costs. As the only hunger-relief organization dedicated exclusively to Newton residents, the Newton Food Pantry has become a vital lifeline for many throughout our community.
Last year, the Newton Food Pantry provided fresh produce, nutritious groceries, and essential personal-care items to more than 2,500 people in need through more than 14,000 in-person pantry visits and home deliveries. The Newton Food Pantry serves every person with dignity, compassion, and respect, and we offer a welcoming environment where they can select for themselves the foods they and their families want. As one client from Nonantum recently shared, “I like walking around the Newton Food Pantry and going shopping for myself, picking out what I need. It’s so much better than having people just toss some things in a bag for you, things you might not need or eat.”
The Newton Food Pantry is sustained by the generous financial support of individual community members, families and local businesses. Such support is essential to our ability, as an independent nonprofit organization, to provide the hunger-relief services our clients desperately require. This holiday season, please consider making a year-end donation to continue our important work. Every contribution directly impacts the lives of our neighbors, allowing the Newton Food Pantry to stock its shelves and bring resources to those who need them. Together, we can strengthen our community and ensure that everyone in Newton is nourished and supported. Please join us today in making a difference!
