Upcoming Closures!
The Newton Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30.
We are thrilled to announce the return of the 11th Annual Newton Turkey Trot, which is once again partnering with the Newton Food Pantry to shine a light on food insecurity in our city. “The Newton Turkey Trot is a beloved tradition in Newton and we are beyond grateful for their long-standing support of the Newton Food Pantry and our vital hunger-relief work,” says Jeff Lemberg, the executive director of the Newton Food Pantry.
This year’s family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, November 24 at Zervas Elementary School in Waban. It will again feature a USATF-certified 5K race and a 1-mile fun run for children. More than 1,400 people are expected to participate!
The Turkey Trot has raised and donated more than $200,000 to local organizations, including the Newton Food Pantry, over the past 11 years. Newton Food Pantry volunteers help organizers bring the race to life, publicizing the event throughout the community and supporting race operations leading up to and on race day.
According to Priya Wagner, Newton Turkey Trot race director and founder: “The Newton Turkey Trot is excited to keep raising awareness and funds for the amazing work done by the Newton Food Pantry. It is a wonderful event for the community, organized by the community. The Newton Food Pantry volunteers play a crucial role from bib pick up to cheering on the race course.”
Be on the lookout for additional information later this fall about how you can get involved in the Newton Turkey Trot and support the Newton Food Pantry. Visit newtonturkeytrot.org for more information, and click here to register for the race.
Whether you’re running, volunteering or cheering from the sidelines, we hope to see you there!
