As a U.S. Air National Guard veteran, Paul has been running most of his adult life. He ran his first half marathon virtually in Iraq in 2010, and was part of a running club when he lived in Colorado, prior to moving to Newton. These days, he loves taking part in 5Ks and fun runs with his wife and 7-year-old son. When he is not running, he and his family love being outdoors and spending time near the ocean with their two dogs.
With a master’s degree in emergency management, Paul is no stranger to helping others in need. His family first started contributing to the Newton Food Pantry during the pandemic; it became clear to him how many people faced a sudden and dramatic need for help during that time. Paul has been so impressed by how much the Newton Food Pantry does with an all-volunteer team, and their son is looking forward to volunteering when he is older!
Paul has run the marathon twice before — in 2018, the year of the epic rains and when he came home to a flooded basement, and again in 2019. Both years he ran as a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard where he served for more than 20 years. He believes one of the best parts of the Boston Marathon is running through Newton where he grew up!
This year Paul wanted to run with a focus on giving back. “After the impact of the pandemic, the need for the Newton Food Pantry is greater than ever,” he said. His family is a proud supporter of the Newton Food Pantry, and we couldn’t be happier to have Paul running to support us.
So far, Paul has helped raise over $5,000 for the Newton Food Pantry! Donate today and help Paul reach his $10,000 fundraising goal.
